All these passengers expect their luggage to reach the same destination. That’s where Vanderlande comes in as a strategic partner with full responsibility of the performance and maintenance of Heathrow’s baggage handling systems.
Your Role
Working within London Heathrow Airport, the Service Technician will be performing maintenance duties to ensure productivity and output, equipment availability, health & safety compliance and quality. You will be performing the following tasks:
- Ensuring a top condition of the various installations
- Responsible for performing malfunction and maintenance work as well as carrying out preventive and periodic maintenance, in collaboration with colleagues.
- Resolving mechanical, electrical and any control technical faults

Physical Requirements
- Walking and Mobility: This role requires extensive walking, including navigating various levels of the baggage systems and working at heights. Candidates must be comfortable with prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- Heavy Lifting: The position involves lifting and moving heavy objects including baggage, motors, and rollers, with weights up to 75kg. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be always followed.
- Restrictive Spaces: Work will frequently take place in restrictive spaces. Candidates should be able to work comfortably in tight areas and follow all safety guidelines for such environments.
- Noise Levels: The work environment may have high noise levels. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided, and adherence to safety regulations regarding noise exposure is mandatory.
Any pre-existing medical history that you feel may affect your ability to perform the duties of the role, must be taken into consideration when applying.

What We Expect From You
As a Service Technician you make an important contribution to customer satisfaction, whereby the continuity of the customer process is central. You therefore have an enthusiastic and proactive attitude and are flexible. We expect the following of you:
- You are in the possession of a City & Guilds / NVQ level 3 or above in maintenance mechanical / electrical discipline.
- Willing to work shifts including nights
- Experience with maintenance planning
What We See As a Nice To Have
- 18th Edition (BS 7671 / wiring regs)
- You have gained experience within an FMCG manufacturing or automated environment
- Experience in training/coaching
