General Summary
As a workshop technician your prime responsibility will be dismantle/inspection/rebuild of mechanical rotating equipment. It is expected that your key drivers and focus will be on client satisfaction and the performance of key internal stakeholders.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Dismantle, inspect, and re-build a range of mechanical rotating equipment types, mainly pumps
- Inspect components and sub-assemblies using engineering inspection techniques & tooling
- Enter inspection sizing data into strip and build reports
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience within a fitter technician role in a heavy industry/manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Ability to measure and record dimensional data using inspection tools (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers)
- Machining skills using manual lathes (desirable)
- Driven with a “can do” attitude
- Excellent communication skills with strong internal relationships
- Sound knowledge of variety of machinery
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and specifications
- Culturally aware, understanding and recognizing diverse ways of working
- Willing to constructively challenge performance and critically assess all business aspects, proposing solutions for continuous improvement
- Ability to effectively communicate in both spoken and written English

Education and Experience
Essential:
- Time-served mechanical apprenticeship
- SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
Desirable:
- HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
