Services Cost Manager – Full Time (Derby)

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated leader to join the Trent 1000/7000 Value Stream team as a Services Cost Manager.

With over 600 aircraft in service and a growing orderbook of aircraft, the Trent 1000/7000 Value Stream covers the full breadth of engine activity—providing a unique opportunity to develop business reach across the lifecycle of an engine.

Reporting to the Vice President – Cost, you will:

  • Define and own a robust cost strategy roadmap, policies, and baseline cost assumptions to underpin profitability of the Trent 1000/7000 and directly impact business performance.
  • Align this strategy for existing and future business, while evaluating the impact of cost reduction proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Strategy Leadership

    • Define, secure approval, own, and communicate the aftermarket cost strategy to align with:
      • Improved contract returns
      • 5-year plan commitments
      • Business plan requirements
      • Overall margin improvement objectives
  • Product Cost Governance

    • Own the product cost attributes for the Trent 1000/7000, ensuring inputs are robust and clear action plans exist to meet committed targets.
  • Cost Commitments & Evaluations

    • Define accurate and robust aftermarket cost commitments for:
      • The 5-year plan
      • New and existing business evaluations
    • Integrate cost inputs into contracted business and financial processes, with actionable recommendations for opportunities and hazards.

  • Risk Management & Assumptions

    • Capture both cost opportunities and hazards, creating mitigation plans.
    • Recommend financial provisions to manage risks and uncertainties.
    • Work cross-functionally with:
      • Finance
      • Service Business
      • Engineering
      • Aftermarket Operations
      • Customer Team
    • Provide aligned cost commitments, policies, and assumptions.
  • Cost Reduction & Business Case Support

    • Support and approve cost reduction initiatives and product changes via formal business cases.

Position Qualifications

  • Preferred: Degree qualification.
  • Preferred Requirements:
    • Strong business acumen and good analytical skills with some product understanding.
    • Ability to translate complex data into actionable business outcomes, policies, and recommendations.
    • Proficiency in communicating and influencing senior stakeholders and other business areas.
