Electric Meter Engineer

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Electric Meter Engineer to WC/LV/HV CT level to join the field engineering team in Stark.

You will be based from your home address and will have the support of a well-established team of field management and office professionals who pride themselves on their high levels of service and support to both commercial customers and colleagues in the field. Your main function will be to work on electricity AMR metering and sub metering roles as well as other technical installation projects as required. In certain areas of the UK we also carry out work on behalf of a large Network Operator and for this, if applicable, you would be trained to install CT Chambers, pilot cables and carry out site connections directly to the service head. All training undertaken will be carried out at our bespoke and well equipment training centre which has been designed with the sole purpose of ensuring a realistic training environment is provided.

You will enjoy working mainly Monday to Friday between 8am-17.00, although to meet the needs of our customers at times you will need to work outside of this and for this you will be compensated.

You must also be prepared to work in all weathers, and in sometimes difficult or dirty conditions as some metering equipment can be in based in areas such as basements or outside. A reasonable level of physical fitness and manual dexterity is also required to undertake regular manual handling.

Key Tasks

  • Carry out complete installations and replacements of single phase and 3 phase WC meters for varying contracts in varying locations
  • Installation and Maintenance of LV/HV COP3, COP 5 and COP 10 Smart Metering Systems for Commercial and Industrial Customers
  • Installation and commissioning of 3rd party metering equipment
  • Wiring of meter looms from TTB on CT Chambers
  • CT cabinet installation and Installations and Wiring of DNO CT's as applicable after training
  • Meter commissioning and data accuracy is achieved on each job undertaken

Skills and Experience required:

  • Prior experience of complex AMR metering installations and setups
  • Proactive time management and the ability to progress appointments through to successful completions
  • Be familiar with industry standard AMR meter types (EDMI, (Honeywell) Elster, ISKRA etc) and their software.
  • Familiarity with various AMR metering modems and their functionality as well as aerial connections and programming
  • Good IT and MS Office skills.
  • Flexibility to support customer demands
  • Sound electrical metering background, relevant to the installation of Code of Practice 3, 5 and 10 Smart Metering and knowledge of CT's and meter cabinets.

The following qualifications and certifications are desirable:

  • City & Guilds 236/2330 qualification or equivalent. (Electrical or Electronic)
  • 18th Edition BS7671
  • NRSWA
  • EUSR
  • Scottish Power Authorisation
  • Northern Power Authorisation
  • Water Hygiene
  • SHEA Power
