Freelance Setting Out Engineer
Wolverhampton | £300-£400 per day | 6-7 Month Contract
I'm currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Setting Out Engineer to join a major regeneration project in Wolverhampton.
This flagship development will deliver 331 high-quality homes, extensive landscaped public spaces, and 20,000 sq ft of retail and commercial space, making it one of the region's most significant regeneration schemes.

- Location: Wolverhampton
- Duration: 6-7 months
- Rate: £300-£400 per day, depending on experience and whether you provide your own setting out equipment.

The Role
Working as part of the site engineering team, you'll be responsible for delivering accurate setting out across a large residential and infrastructure package, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and to programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out for roads, drainage, foundations, groundworks and residential units.
- Carrying out site surveys and producing accurate setting out data.
- Ensuring all work is delivered in accordance with project drawings and specifications.
- Maintaining accurate records and as-built information.
- Liaising with the Site Manager, Senior Engineer and subcontractors to coordinate daily activities.
- Identifying and resolving engineering issues on site.
- Promoting high standards of health, safety and quality throughout the project.

Requirements
To be considered, you'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Setting Out Engineer on residential, groundworks or major civil engineering projects.
- A valid CSCS card.
- Experience using Leica, Trimble or equivalent surveying equipment.
- Your own setting out equipment is desirable and will be reflected in the day rate.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently on a busy construction site.
This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long-term freelance contract on a high-profile regeneration project with a well-established contractor.
