About The Role

Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Site Engineer to join our £1.2 billion Lower Thames Crossing project, consisting of 43 bridges, including viaducts, 17km of complex Highways construction, complex utility diversions, and a scheme-wide, industry-leading approach to carbon reduction.

Balfour Beatty Highways maintain, manage, and operate major highway networks across the UK and support local authorities in creating communities where people want to live, work, and play.

As a Site Engineer, you will be tasked with undertaking control and implementation of works on site, supporting the Design Engineering team in delivering projects related to our Lower Thames Crossing project.

What you'll be doing

  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
  • Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
  • Production of Task Briefing Sheets
  • Contribution to production of Permit to Dig, including briefing to the workforce
  • Carries out Safety Inspections
  • Setting out from primary control provided by others
  • Provision of sketches detailing the setting out information installed
  • Read and determine information from drawings, schedules, and specifications
  • Using and Navigating the design model using Navisworks
  • Production of as-built drawings & records for every element of the works involved in
  • Works to Weekly Programme (drafted by others) and marks up progress achieved weekly
  • Production of accurate daily diary of resources, including labor, plant, materials, subcontractors, and outputs

Who we're looking for

  • Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately
  • Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes
  • Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
  • Holds a current driving license and CSCS Card
  • Understands Permit to Dig System
  • Environmental awareness
  • Setting out techniques – ability to use level & EDM, plus GPS
  • Awareness and use of Specification and other Contract documents
  • Able to take off and schedule material quantities accurately
