Job Details
Responsibilities
- Performing regular maintenance at sewer pump stations, including machinery, generators, force mains, gravity sewer mains, and other sewer infrastructure.
- Visually inspecting equipment, ensuring required materials are available, and returning tools and equipment to designated locations.
- Adding fuel, changing lubricants, greasing fittings, and hosing and cleaning wet and dry wells.
- Inspecting force mains and laterals from maps, sketches, and drawings.
- Preparing job sites by setting up and placing warning devices and traffic barricades.
- Keeping accurate records of all work completed, including work performed, time to complete, unusual incidents, dangerous conditions, and resources used.
- Assisting in snow and ice control. Must have the ability to operate vehicles equipped with snowplows and spreaders.
- Assisting in performing more complex maintenance tasks as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills
- Ability to understand the township’s sewer collection system and the equipment, materials, and methods used in repairing and maintaining the pump stations.
- Ability to effectively operate hand tools, power tools, and other related equipment required for the tasks.
- Ability to interpret distribution maps, site plans, and survey markers.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the team.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of related experience.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensing & Certification
- Must have a valid N.J. driver’s license and CDL license with proper endorsement or the ability to obtain within a one-year period.
- A N.J. state license for collection of wastewaters is a plus.
Accommodation
