Sexual Health Nurse

Registered Nurse – Sexual Health (Band 5) at Crawley Hospital, West Sussex

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, committed and flexible Registered Nurse to join our team at Crawley Hospital, part of the West Sussex Integrated Sexual Health Service. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to develop skills under a supportive framework, including clinical supervision, training, and research pathways. Successful candidates will receive fullGenito-Urinary Medicine training, support to achieve the FSRH Diploma in Contraception and Sexual Health, and progression to Band 6 upon completion of relevant competencies.

Ideal candidates may also have prior experience in Sexual Health Nursing and a desire to advance their career in this field. Flexibility and teamwork are key—you will work across a week that spans 6 days, with some travel required for training or meetings near hubs in Worthing, Chichester, and across the region.

This role forms part of a collaborative Integrated Sexual Health Service, where the Nurse provides client-centred advice, support, and evidence-based information on contraception methods, sexual health education, health promotion, and broader relevant services. Client empowerment is core—you will enable individuals to make informed decisions while offering holistic health checks.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver client-centred nursing advice aligned with current evidence-based practices
  • Provide up-to-date, accurate information on contraception, sexual health promotion, and associated services
  • Conduct health assessments and screenings to enhance patient autonomy
  • Support clients through decision-making processes about health choices
  • Optimise client engagement and outcomes through client-centred care models
  • Contribute to team-based training, clinical supervision, and departmental research initiatives
  • Occasional travel across regional clinics to support flexible service delivery

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (Band 5) with substantial post-registration experience
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for teamwork in healthcare settings
  • Adaptability to a 6-day working schedule, including occasional travel and travel for training
  • Commitment to client-centred care, with strong communication and educational skills
  • Significant existing clinical skills or desire to advance in Sexual Health Nursing
