Blade Repair Technician – GEV Wind Power

About the Role

GEV Wind Power is seeking experienced Blade Repair Technicians to support internal blade inspections and composite repair projects on SGRE wind turbines at onshore wind farms throughout the United States. This role requires extensive travel, offering the opportunity to work on diverse projects while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and workmanship.

Location: Full-time rotation across the USA (100% travel) Employment Type: Regular Full-time or Contract positions available


Key Responsibilities

  • Travel 100% on a rotational basis, including cross-country flights or truck transport to wind farms across the U.S.
  • Perform composite blade repairs up-tower using:
    • Platform access
    • Rope access techniques
    • Occasionally on-the-ground repairs
  • Conduct epoxy and polyester resin wet layups
  • Implement vacuum infusion techniques
  • Work with balsa and foam sandwich materials
  • Execute structural repairs to maintain blade integrity
  • Complete detailed daily progress reports and QA/QC documentation
  • Conduct onsite stock checks
  • Assist the site lead and project coordinator as required

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience & Skills

We are looking for reliable technicians with the following expertise:

  • 2+ years in composite blade repair
  • Confident in platform and rope access techniques
  • Understanding of fiberglass structures and advanced repair methods
  • Ability to safely use powered hand tools
  • Precision for finger dexterity and tool handling
  • Knowledge of repair specifications and technical diagrams
  • Proficient in digital tasks: email, IoT, and iPad usage
  • Strong teamwork and adaptability to changing project needs

Physical & Certifications Requirements

  • Physically capable of:
    • Climbing ladders/scaffolding
    • Working in confined spaces (bending, crawling, stooping)
    • Lifting up to 75lb
    • Wearing a respirator with PPE
  • Must be 21+ years old with a valid driver’s license and clean MVR report
  • Ability to work with clear vision (corrective lenses allowed)
  • U.S. work eligibility (citizenship or work authorization required)
  • Criminal background check clearance and drug testing
  • Certifications required (or ability to complete):
    • GWO BST (Basic Safety Training)
      • Fire awareness
      • Working at heights
      • Manual handling
      • First aid
    • GWO ART (Advanced Rescue Training)
    • GWO Slinger Signaller or Siemens Rigging Safety
    • Blade Repair or Advanced Blade Repair
    • Spot Paint certification
    • OSHA 10 (General Industry)
    • EHS Regional Compliance (preferred, but assistance provided)
    • Rigging Safety
    • SGRE Blade C or Blade D certification (preferred)
