Skilled Sheet Metal Worker
We are working on behalf of a leading Defence organisation based in Glasgow, seeking skilled Sheet Metal Workers to support a range of cutting-edge defence manufacturing projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile programmes in a secure and well-resourced environment. Ideal for candidates with a background in heavy industry, shipbuilding, aerospace, rail, or structural fabrication, this role offers long-term potential and the chance to work with a respected name in the defence sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, technical manuals, and work instructions.
- Carry out a range of sheet metal fabrication tasks, including:
- Cutting
- Forming
- Bending
- Drilling
- Riveting
- Assembly
- Operate a variety of workshop equipment such as press brakes, guillotines, and hand tools.
- Work with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including both thin and heavy gauge materials.
- Ensure high standards of finish and dimensional accuracy in line with customer specifications.
- Perform fitting, alignment, and assembly tasks as required.
- Maintain health & safety standards and contribute to a clean, efficient working environment.
- Complete all tasks in accordance with Ministry of Defence (MOD) and customer-specific requirements.

Required Experience
- A Modern Apprenticeship certificate (also known as Trade Papers).
- Proven experience in heavy construction, manufacturing, or defence environments.
- A strong background in sheet metal work, ideally with structural or large-scale fabrications.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Comfortable working with both manual and powered tools/equipment.
- Welding or tack welding knowledge is advantageous but not essential.
- Experience working in secure or quality-critical environments (e.g., Aerospace, Defence, Marine, Rail) is preferred.

Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (Basic Personnel Security Standards (BPSS) or Security Clearance (SC) preferred).
- Willing to work on-site in Glasgow.
- Flexible to work overtime and shift patterns if required.
