About the Role
As part of the Social Transformation Team, our vision is to recruit and build teams of congregation members, to train and equip them, to walk alongside those on the margins of society in London, bridging them to the love of Jesus. We serve those in our four ministry "pillars": prisons, homeless, women and displaced.
Responsibilities
The Shelter Manager is responsible for the Shelter ministry, including oversight and operation of the HTB Shelter(s), within the HTB Social Transformation department. This currently includes the Wed AM, Wed PM, and Thu AM Shelter, including oversight of the external partnership with Glassdoor Homeless Charity to operate all HTB Night Shelter(s) across different HTB sites (currently QG and EC).
Some of the responsibilities of the role will include:
- Oversee the delivery of HTB's Shelter ministry, including weekly shelters and associated support services
- Lead and support volunteer teams, fostering a culture of prayer, encouragement, and excellence
- Manage relationships with key partners, including homeless charities and local support organisations
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety, and food hygiene requirements
- Oversee donations, resources, and support services such as laundry, shower, and community activities
- Manage the Shelter budget, reporting, and operational administration
- Collaborate across the Social Transformation Team to strengthen ministry impact and community engagement

Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in church or ministry work as staff or volunteer, particularly working with those experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping [SD2.1]
- Experience working in a professional, office environment
- Great communication skills, able to communicate clearly and professionally in emails, reports and other forms of professional writing
- Computer literate, competent user of Microsoft office, including Excel
- Organised and able to manage administrative tasks, including documents, reporting and finances
