Role Description

The SHEQ Advisor is a full-time, hybrid role based in Downham Market, with some flexibility for work from home. The role involves supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) systems and procedures across high voltage operations and projects.   • Conducting risk assessments and site inspections
  • Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies
  • Preparing clear reports and action plans

The SHEQ Advisor will assist in:

  • Incident investigations
  • Supporting root-cause analysis
  • Helping drive corrective and preventive actions

The role also includes:

  • Maintaining SHEQ documentation
  • Contributing to staff training and toolbox talks
  • Collaborating with engineering and project teams to embed a strong safety and quality culture

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of SHEQ principles and practices, including risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management systems.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation and standards applicable to electrical and high voltage environments (e.g., health and safety, environmental regulations).
  • Experience with documentation, reporting, and audit processes, including creating clear records, procedures, and improvement plans.
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage colleagues and contractors on SHEQ matters.
  • Proven ability to work both on site and remotely, managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a dynamic project environment.
  • Previous experience in utilities, electrical engineering, construction, or a similar high-risk industry is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant SHEQ or health and safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are desirable.
  • Comfort with basic IT tools and data analysis to track performance, identify trends, and support continuous improvement.
