SHEQ Coordinator
Location: Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Sunray Engineering Limited is a leading specialist manufacturer and installer of steel and timber security and fire doors, along with associated products including louvre panels, solid panels, access hatches, and enhanced blast and ballistic protection solutions. We supply a diverse customer base across the UK and worldwide.
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented SHEQ Coordinator to support the delivery and continual improvement of our Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) management systems across the business.
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, industry standards, and company policies. You will assist with audits, investigations, training, reporting, and the maintenance of management systems to promote a positive safety culture and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and maintenance of SHEQ policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Coordinate and maintain SHEQ documentation, records, and databases.
- Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring corrective actions are effectively managed and closed out.
- Monitor and report on SHEQ performance metrics, KPIs, and trends.
- Support accident, incident, near-miss, and non-conformance investigations.
- Ensure risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work are reviewed and maintained.
- Coordinate SHEQ communications, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
- Support compliance with ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 where applicable.
- Liaise with operational teams to promote continuous improvement and best practice.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry requirements.

Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a SHEQ, Health & Safety, Quality, or Compliance coordination role.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and management systems.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Desirable Requirements
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- Experience working within construction, manufacturing, engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
- Experience with SHEQ reporting systems and compliance software.
