Shift Assistant Estate Manager

A leading facilities management provider is looking for a Shift Assistant Estate Manager to join their team in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to combine your technical expertise with leadership, managing a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a large, complex site.

Working alongside the Technical Services Managers, you'll help deliver statutory compliant Hard FM and lifecycle services while ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to agreed service levels.

The Role

As the Shift Assistant Estate Manager, you will:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of 7 engineers and maintenance professionals, including Electrical, Mechanical, Fabric and Maintenance Assistants.
  • Manage the day-to-day delivery of planned preventative maintenance (PPMs), corrective maintenance and reactive works.
  • Ensure engineering activities are delivered in line with contractual service level agreements (SLAs), statutory compliance requirements and health & safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow Assistant Estate Managers and Technical Services Managers to provide a seamless engineering service.
  • Plan workloads, allocate resources and ensure effective cover for annual leave, sickness and emergency situations.
  • Act as the escalation point for operational and technical issues.
  • Spend approximately 80% of your time managing operations and 20% providing hands-on technical support where required.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, coaching and technical training to develop team capability.
  • Carry out regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and employee appraisals.
  • Promote a positive culture focused on safety, customer service and continuous improvement.

About You

We're keen to hear from candidates with either an Electrical or Mechanical background who have experience leading engineering teams within facilities management or a similar maintenance environment.

Electrical Applicants Should Hold

  • A recognised Electrical Installation qualification.
  • AM2.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Relevant City & Guilds, EAL or NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualifications.

Mechanical Applicants Should Hold:

  • City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Level 2 & 3, or
  • City & Guilds Pipefitting & Plumbing Level 2 & 3, or
  • City & Guilds Plumbing Level 2 & 3, or an equivalent recognised mechanical qualification.

You'll also bring:

  • Previous management or supervisory experience within an engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of planned preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet demanding SLAs.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • The ability to successfully pass a DBS Standard Check.

Shift Pattern

This is a Permanent, Full-time Position Working 39.375 Hours Per Week On The Following Rotating Shift Pattern

  • 2 Days: 7:00am - 7:00pm
  • 2 Nights: 7:00pm - 7:00am
  • 4 Days Off

This is a static site-based role, so no company vehicle is provided.
