Equans is looking for a Shift Assistant Estate Manager to join our team based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 39.375 hours per week. This is based on a shift rota working 2 days on (7am-7pm) then 2 nights on (7pm-7am) then 4 days off. The role is to assist the Technical Services Managers in the provision of Hard FM & Lifecycle Services whilst delivering a high-quality and statutory compliant maintenance service. The role will include assisting in the operation, repair and maintenance of mechanical and electrical engineering services whilst working within a multi-disciplinary hard service team environment.
We will consider applicants from either an Electrical or a Mechanical background.
What will you deliver?
- Direct management of a team of 7 that includes Electrical, Mechanical and Fabric personnel
- Work in collaboration with the other AEM’s to provide an efficient and cohesive service across the Estate
- Manage the day-to-day performance of the relevant Acute Shift team, assisting as required, including Planned, Corrective and Reactive maintenance tasks
- Managing, directing, and assisting staff in a safe and efficient manner
- Deliver training to staff on relevant subjects as appropriate so experience is gained (e.g., toolbox talks & trade specific subject matter)
- Regularly meet with directly employed staff (collectively irrespective of their trade function and individually) to discuss performance and complete employee appraisals
- Manage absence and utilization within the team effectively ensuring the rota is covered as necessary

Who are you?
Electrical
- Electrical Installation – Approved apprenticeship with either:
- Base electrical qualifications C&G Part A & B
- City & Guild 236 Part 1 & 2
- City & Guilds 2330 / 2365 levels 2 & 3 Diploma
- EAL Electrical installation QCF Diploma levels 1, 2 & 3 (601/0409/0 & 600/6724/X & 600/9331/6)
- EAL Level 3 Electrotechnical NVQ or C & G 2357 level 3 NVQ
- AM2
- 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations C& G 2382-18
Mechanical
- City & Guilds Mechanical Engineering Level 2 & 3
- City & Guilds Pipefitting & Plumbing Level 2 & 3
- City & Guilds Plumbing Level 2 & 3
- Relevant City & Guilds Mechanical qualifications
Other
- Management experience
- Driving licence
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
