Shift Electrician – Braunstone Sonoco Plant

The Braunstone Sonoco Plant is one of the largest food can-manufacturing plants in Europe, producing cans from three high-speed production lines that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A vacancy has arisen for a Shift Electrician to join our shift-based team.

The shift pattern we operate is a continental shift pattern: 2 x 12-hour days, followed by 2 x 12-hour nights, with extended breaks built in (average 37.5 hours per week), working a total of 144 shifts a year, with optional overtime available. We are seeking individuals with electrical maintenance experience in a demanding, high-speed production FMGC environment, with excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

As a Shift Electrician, you will provide breakdown support across all production lines and service functions. Key tasks include:

  • Applying effective fault-finding techniques to resolve issues
  • Completing planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Maintaining accurate record-keeping
  • Performing all quality checks and inspections, ensuring they comply with company standards
  • Supporting health and safety within the plant
  • Demonstrating excellent housekeeping disciplines
  • Ensuring safe working practices are adopted
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
