Shift Engineer

Position: Maintenance Shift Engineer

Location: Leeds, Yorkshire

Salary: £52,282

TXM Recruit is partnering with INDUK, a prominent automation and intralogistics company, to recruit a skilled Maintenance Shift Engineer for their automated site in Leeds, Yorkshire. The role entails maintaining and optimizing state-of-the-art machinery to ensure efficient operations at the distribution facility.

Shift Pattern

  • Double Days: Monday – Friday
  • Subject to change
  • Work Hours: 6am – 2pm or 2pm – 10pm

Key Responsibilities

  • Disassembly and Reassembly: Perform mechanical disassembly and reassembly tasks.
  • Field Wiring & Calibration: Conduct basic field wiring, equipment calibration, and system testing.
  • Efficient Time Management: Achieve over 90% CMMS utilization.
  • Reactive Repairs: Complete repairs within set timeframes to minimize downtime and downtime periods.
  • Service & Repair Ownership: Take hands-on ownership of servicing and repairing installed machinery for swift issue resolution.
  • Electrical Controls: Work confidently with 415V motor controls and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Health & Safety: Carry out thorough risk assessments at all times.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Demonstrate strong mechanical abilities, including reading and following assembly drawings.
  • Precision & Compliance: Follow setup instructions, assembly guides, and checklists meticulously.
  • Attention to Detail: Display strong follow-up capabilities and precision.
  • Control Systems: Understand and work effectively with automation and control systems.

  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with all levels within the organization and stakeholder environments.

Skills & Qualifications Required

  • Qualification at NVQ/BTEC/C&G Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, minimum.

  • Hands-on experience and understanding of safe isolations and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).

  • Experience working independently on electrical systems due to small team structure on-site.

  • Familiarity with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods and technologies.

  • Knowledge of PLC systems, including understanding their functionality.

  • Hypothetical: Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is advantageous.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Experience using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) and managing engineering inventory.

  • A qualification at HNC/HND level, preferably, but not essential.

Desirable Attributes

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, including disassembly and reassembly using technical diagrams.
  • Familiarity with motor controls (415V systems) and understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Awareness of health and safety standards, including conducting risk assessments.
  • Customer-centric mindset and effective communication skills for interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in training programs, including potential travel within Europe.
