Shift Engineer - Critical Facilities (Data Centre)
We are seeking an experienced Shift Engineer to join our in-house engineering team at a leading mission-critical data centre. Working on a continental shift pattern, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and availability of critical infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime within a 24/7 operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across critical electrical and mechanical systems.
- Monitor and respond to alarms via BMS/EMS systems.
- Perform fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on mission-critical plant.
- Operate and maintain generators, UPS systems, switchgear, chillers, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, pumps and associated HVAC equipment.
- Complete routine plant inspections, operational checks and statutory compliance tasks.
- Support safe systems of work, permit-to-work procedures and contractor management.
- Respond to critical incidents and equipment failures, ensuring rapid restoration of services.
- Produce accurate maintenance records, reports and detailed shift handovers using CMMS.

About You
- Previous experience within a data centre, critical environment, facilities maintenance or similar mission-critical industry.
- Strong electrical and/or mechanical maintenance background.
- Confident fault-finder with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of critical infrastructure including UPS, generators, HVAC and building management systems.
- Able to work effectively within a 24/7 continental shift rota.
- Committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational excellence.
