We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, market-leading food manufacturing business that is continuing to invest in its people, equipment, and operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Shift Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team where you'll play a key role in keeping production running efficiently, driving continuous improvement, and making a real impact on site performance. The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns, and delivering planned preventative maintenance to maximise plant performance and minimise downtime.
Working closely with Production and other site departments, you'll contribute to continuous improvement projects while ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities
- Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, identifying root causes, and implementing lasting solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Assist with engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and installation work.
- Train and support production operators with basic maintenance activities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation.
- Promote safe working practices and high housekeeping standards.
- Work collaboratively with production and technical teams to maximise operational performance.
About You
We're looking for someone who is hands-on, motivated, and enjoys solving engineering challenges.
You'll ideally have:
- A recognised Electrical or Mechanical Engineering qualification.
- Previous experience within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
- PLC fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
- A strong understanding of preventative maintenance principles.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety and food manufacturing standards such as HACCP.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-focused approach.
- The flexibility to work days and nights on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern.
