Shift Engineer
Frontline Engineer – Cheese & Whey Production

About Saputo Dairy UK

This role is based in a state-of-the-art production site where you will operate as a frontline engineer (mechanical & electrical) within a food production environment, maintaining assets across cheese and whey manufacturing areas.
Key Responsibilities
Your work will cover both reactive and proactive engineering tasks, including:
- Delivering preventative maintenance schedules for machinery
- Addressing reactive engineering issues
- Operating and maintaining a range of:
- Pumps
- Motors
- Valves
- Agitators
- Collaborating with engineering teams and production staff to plan and execute maintenance activities
- Recording and updating maintenance work in the tracking system
- Supporting other site areas to broaden your operational experience
- Prioritising workloads while ensuring awareness of production timescales
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities

Featuring a 3-on/3-off shift pattern (days and nights)
Who We’re Looking For
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Time-served apprenticeship, NVQ, or HNC/HND qualification in engineering
- Multi-skilled engineering experience (mechanical & electrical)
- Proven ability to work hands-on (both in and outdoors)
- Experience working in a production environment (FMCG preferred)
- Strong teamwork with a willingness to support colleagues
- Comfortable using different computer systems
