Shift Technician - Data Centre

We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Technician to join a high-performing engineering team within a mission-critical data centre environment. This is a days-only position supporting the operation and maintenance of critical mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, and compliance.

Working for a leading data centre operator, you'll be part of a team responsible for maintaining a world-class critical facility, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance while supporting operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on critical M&E systems.
  • Monitor, operate, and maintain infrastructure including HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, cooling systems, pumps, BMS, and associated plant.
  • Perform routine inspections, plant checks, and system testing to ensure optimal performance and resilience.
  • Respond to equipment alarms and faults, carrying out first-line diagnosis and repairs where appropriate.
  • Operate within permit-to-work, lock out/tag out (LOTO), and safe systems of work procedures.
  • Supervise specialist contractors and ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with site standards.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records, shift reports, and CAFM documentation.
  • Support incident response, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain the highest levels of operational availability and customer service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
