Position Summary
As a Shift Engineer – Heating and Ventilation, you will provide proactive and reactive maintenance support across the hotel, with a specialist focus on heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) systems, fan coil units, air handling units, guestroom comfort systems, and associated plant equipment. You will play a key role in ensuring guest comfort, maintaining plant reliability, improving energy efficiency, and supporting compliance with health and safety standards.
Working as part of the Engineering team, you will diagnose faults, complete preventative maintenance, respond to breakdowns and guest requests, and ensure all HVAC systems operate safely and efficiently. This role is primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional shift cover required to support operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, fan coil units and associated equipment.
- Diagnose faults and perform first-line repairs to heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
- Monitor and maintain guestroom comfort by resolving temperature, airflow and ventilation issues.
- Support seasonal HVAC changeovers and ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, maintenance issues and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and manage stock levels of essential HVAC parts.
- Support general engineering and building maintenance activities across the hotel.
- Follow all health, safety and compliance procedures, ensuring a safe working environment at all times.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contractors to deliver excellent operational and guest service standards.

Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a hotel engineering department or a similar maintenance environment.
- Experience or knowledge of HVAC systems, including fan coil units, air handling units and heating and cooling equipment.
- Good understanding of fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance and general building services.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, reliable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good level of spoken and written English.
- Commitment to delivering excellent guest service while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
