Kinmel | Permanent | Site-based

The Role

We are looking for experienced Shift Engineers with a strong mechanical bias to join our Engineering team, based at our Kinmel site. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on mechanical fault finding, preventative maintenance, and driving equipment reliability within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

On Offer

  • £23.33 per hour plus shift allowance - £2.35 per hour
  • 42.9 hours per week, 2 days, 2 nights, 4 off shift pattern (12 hour shifts on rotation)
  • Shift times:
    • 05:45
    • 18:00 / 17:45
    • 06:00
  • Paid monthly last Friday of each month

The Role

To establish and maintain safe, compliant and effective engineering operations that continually develop the site’s asset base by following the Engineering strategy for proactive work whilst responding to breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventative and predictive maintenance across a range of mechanical equipment and complete breakdown repairs in a timely manner to minimise downtime
  • Carry out mechanical fault finding, repair and continuous improvement activities across production and site machinery
  • Support installation, commissioning and modification of mechanical systems and equipment
  • Assessing the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels
  • Escalate any issues in a timely manner to the Engineering Manager
  • Ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment. Champion safety
  • Using root cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence
  • Support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed
  • Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive improvement throughout the site

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Qualified or time served in Mechanical Engineering disciplines
  • Electrical knowledge or multi-skilled experience would be advantageous
  • Strong mechanical fault finding and maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in the use and operation of CMMS
  • Reliability Management expertise (such as FMECA, RCM, Tribology, CBM, TPM)
  • Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • NEBOSH with a sound knowledge of behavioural safety at a site level - desirable
  • Legionella and HACCP awareness - desirable
  • Experience in FMCG - desirable
