Shift Engineer

Location: Leicester

Salary: Up to £45k per annum

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent (4 on 4 off shift pattern Days & Nights)

A motivated and skilled Engineer is required to support the maintenance and continuous improvement of site equipment and operations. This role focuses on ensuring machinery runs efficiently, safely and reliably, while contributing to ongoing improvements across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance and repair of plant equipment in a safe and timely manner
  • Communicate progress updates clearly with production teams
  • Support continuous improvement activities and small-scale engineering projects
  • Maintain company engineering standards, procedures and disciplines
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, reliability and cost efficiency
  • Report incidents, accidents and near misses in line with safety procedures
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety standards
  • Support contractors on site to ensure compliance with safety policies
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records within CMMS systems
  • Ensure effective handovers and clear communication between shifts

Skills & Experience Required

  • Minimum 3 years experience within a manufacturing or process environment
  • Strong electrical and mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Self-motivated with the ability to respond quickly to operational needs

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3/4, HND, City & Guilds or equivalent)
  • Apprentice trained or BTEC qualified
  • Competent in using CMMS for maintenance recording
