Shift Engineering Supervisor

About the Role

Are you an experienced engineering professional with a passion for leading teams, driving performance, and delivering continuous improvement? We’re looking for an Engineering Supervisor to play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our glass plant rework equipment.

Working closely with the Shift Manager, you’ll lead maintenance activities, minimise downtime, improve equipment performance, and support the development of a high-performing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

Driving Reliability & Performance

  • Lead preventative and reactive maintenance activities to maximise equipment uptime.
  • Ensure breakdowns are resolved quickly, safely, and effectively.
  • Manage repairs through external suppliers, focusing on cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor parts usage, supplier performance, and repair turnaround times.

Improving Operations

  • Support production teams to improve line efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Identify opportunities to redesign and enhance equipment performance.
  • Work collaboratively during changeovers, start-ups, and operational challenges.
  • Communicate equipment risks and changes effectively across shift teams.

Leading Continuous Improvement

  • Champion innovation by identifying and implementing new engineering solutions.
  • Support the specification, installation, and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Lead trials and improvements that enhance productivity and reduce operational costs.

Coordinating Engineering Activities

  • Plan and coordinate engineering work during shutdowns and major maintenance periods.
  • Build strong relationships with Production, Quality, Planning, and Logistics teams.
  • Manage engineering stores expenditure and support cost-control initiatives.

Requirements & Experience

  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering background.
  • Experience leading maintenance activities within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Proven fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with experience managing costs and resources.
