Purpose of the Shift Lead Role
As a Shift Lead, you will:
- Lead the fill operation, ensuring the sales floor is fully prepared for trade.
- Take operational responsibility for coordinating resources to Serve, Sell, and Fill during the operational window.
- Act as a floormanager in the absence of the Colleague Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate resources to enhance efficiency and productivity during the fill operation, including during shift overlaps.
- Lead the fill team, coaching colleagues on One Best Way processes and driving productivity ahead of store opening.
- Allocate team resources to deliver a quick and efficient payment experience.
- Streamline daily operational processes to ensure they execute effectively in designated areas across the store.
- Oversee store presentation, ensuring the store remains clean, safe, and visually appealing.
- Foster an inclusive and positive team atmosphere, promoting collaboration and morale.
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service as a role model for colleagues.
- Uphold M&S behaviours and Colleague Expectations across the store, guiding others to perfection.
- Support Colleague Managers by providing observational feedback to recognise high performance.
- Maintain flexibility to assist nearby stores when needed.
- Serve as a keyholder, ensuring the opening and closing procedures of the store are completed accurately, including:
- Vehicle receipts
- Temperature checks and security protocols
- Reporting operational issues to relevant helpdesks
- Cash handling compliance
- Adherence to TSL (Transport and Storage Logistics) regulations where applicable
