Purpose of the Shift Lead Role
To lead the fill operation, delivering a salesfloor that is ready to trade, taking operational responsibility for coordinating resources to:
- Serve, Sell and Fill
- Lead the floor in the absence of the Colleague Manager
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate resource allocation to deliver operational tasks during fill operations and in the absence of the Colleague Manager
- Lead the fill operation by coaching colleagues on One Best Way while driving productivity in readiness for store opening
- Allocate resources efficiently to maintain a quick payment experience
- Enable daily operational processes (e.g., stocking, cleaning, security checks) to run efficiently across assigned store areas at the correct times
- Coordinate teams to deliver a clean, safe and well-presented store
- Support team inclusivity and foster a positive atmosphere
- Role model excellent customer service
- Align with Marks & Spencer’s behaviours and Colleague Expectations
- Support Colleague Managers through observations on colleague performance and recognise exceptional efforts
- Assist nearby stores operationally if required
- Act as a keyholder, responding to call-outs as needed
- Handle opening and closing duties, including:
- Vehicle receipts and delivery management
- Temperature control compliance
- Logging operational issues to relevant Helpdesks
- Cash handling
- TSL (Timesheet & Shift Log) compliance during peripheral hours
