Job Summary

The Shift Leader supervises shifts and/or work areas in the operation of a Papa John’s restaurant to ensure high quality products and customer service—ensuring restaurant profitability. Additional responsibilities include managing operations, executing company policies, procedures, programs, and systems. Ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to guidelines, techniques, and expectations for each station including dough management, accuracy, and proper portioning. Performs assigned station duties such as:
    • Manufacturing quality products
    • Following product preparation procedures
    • Maintaining established product holding times
  • Consistently contributes to achieving company product goals
    • Meets customer needs and expectations
    • Minimizes customer complaints
    • Responds appropriately to customer needs
  • Follows all policies and procedures outlined in the TM Handbook, including:
    • Image standards (delivery driver car toppers)
    • Attendance guidelines
    • Safety requirements
    • Security protocols
  • Exemplifies and embodies Core Values:
    • Maintains positive attitude
    • Works well with others
    • Remains flexible and adaptable to change
  • Ensures adequate shift coverage for the restaurant
    • Provides immediate feedback and corrects issues
    • Maintains standards for:
      • Product quality
      • Customer service
      • Performance (including MCE readiness, food/labor costs, restaurant cleanliness)
    • Follows shift management guidelines
  • Contributes to profit goals by adhering to company guidelines and targets via the FOCUS System
  • Executes cash management duties
  • Assists in managing inventory levels using company systems to minimize loss

Education, Experience & Certifications

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred)
  • Serv-Safe/Local or State Food Service Certification (preferred)
  • Previous restaurant shift lead experience (preferred)
  • Stable employment history
  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Must work long hours (32+ hours minimum), scheduled or unscheduled, including:
    • Nights
    • Weekends
    • Emergency shifts as required
  • Ability to perform all restaurant job duties successfully
