Shift Leader – Pret A Manger

THE RIGHT PRET PEOPLE Support and coach the team to ensure they reach their potential in both the shop and kitchen

  • Ensure training pathways are on track
  • Lead by example and be hands-on when required
  • Assign duties to balance individual productivity, skill sets, and current responsibilities
  • Coach the team for consistent high performance by delivering regular, excellent feedback

AMAZING SERVICE

  • Lead Speed of Service principles
  • Ensure the team adheres to the 6 Key Points of Service
  • Follow MBWA (Managing by Walking Around) principles
  • Empower the team to deliver engaging Joy of Pret activities
  • Role-model and encourage the "3Bs" – Be Kind, Be Honest, Be Generous
  • Maintain Cafe Calling System efficiency

DELICIOUS FOOD AND DRINK

  • Maintain the 6 Key Points of Production for consistently delicious menu items
  • Follow the 11-Step Production Process to guarantee customer safety, accurate preparation, and proper labelling
  • Prioritise Production Principles to place customers’ needs first and never compromise on quality or freshness
  • Ensure How to Cards are used and standards are consistently upheld
  • Conduct line checks, addressing any issues promptly
  • Prevent Made to Sell (MTS) rejects from being displayed
  • Continuously enhance team knowledge of food and coffee quality
  • Ensure Barista Prepared Drinks are made by trained staff to the highest standard

WELL-LOVED SHOP

  • Strictly adhere to Food Safety and Health & Safety Standards to protect team and customers
  • Monitor and record all safety inspections efficiently
  • Take immediate corrective action on waste-related or customer-facing issues impacting sales
  • Keep the shop clean, safe, and equipment well-maintained
  • Follow Managing by Walking Around (MBWA) principles to proactively ensure Pret standards and a customer-first view
  • Demonstrate due diligence—report and escalate any quality-related issues

SHOP PROFITABILITY

  • Maximise sales, labour efficiency, and profit through managing the Big 4 (Forecasting, Rota, Ordering & Production).
  • Accurate ordering aligned to business needs
  • Monitor and address mystery shopper requirements
  • Implement 7 Steps of Unaccounted for effective stock control
  • Follow Pret’s Financial Standards to prevent risks and ensure safety
  • Optimise merchandising and execute marketing to drive sales

GROWING SALES

  • Stick to merchandising guidelines to maximise sales impact
  • Support successful food launches
  • Foster open communication between kitchen and Front of House (FOH) to fulfil business demands
  • Leverage Marketplace opportunities
