Job Summary
The Shift Leader supervises shift operations and work areas in a Papa John’s restaurant, ensuring:
- Delivers high-quality products & exceptional customer service to drive profitability
- Manages operations by executing all Company policies, procedures, programs, and systems
- Ensures full compliance with federal, state, local laws, and ethical business practices
Duties & Responsibilities
Core Operational Roles
- Station Management: Adheres to guidelines for dough management, portion accuracy, and kitchen workflows for riders:
- Makes quality products
- Ensures proper cooking, portioning, and holding times
- Customer Experience:
- Meets customer expectations
- Minimizes complaints, and handles inquiries professionally
- Policy Compliance: Follows team member manual rules for:
- Brand image (e.g., driver car toppers)
- Attendance, safety, and security protocols
Leadership & Performance
- Shift Readiness & Coverage:
- Ensures adequate staffing
- Provides real-time feedback, identifies & resolves issues
- Financial & Operational Fiscal Responsibility:
- Maintains team performance metrics (MCE readiness, cost controls for food/labor, restaurant cleanliness)
- Uses FOCUS System to track accuracy for profit goals
- Manages cash register and inventory systems to reduce loss

Education, Experience & Certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- ServSafe certification (local/state)
- Restaurant shift-leadership experience
- Stable employment history
- Commitment to long hours (30+/week):
- Scheduled nights/weekends/notices accomodated
- Must be 18 or older
- Ability to perform any restaurant role during gaps
