Job Summary

The Shift Leader supervises shifts and/or work areas in the operation of a Papa John’s restaurant to ensure high-quality products and customer service are delivered, ensuring restaurant profitability.

Other responsibilities include managing operations through proper execution of all Company policies, procedures, programs, and systems. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as ethical business practices.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to station guidelines, techniques, and expectations, including:
    • Dough management
    • Accuracy and proper portioning
    • Work at assigned station(s), ensuring quality products and compliance with product preparation procedures and established product holding times
  • Consistently contributes to achieving Company product goals, meeting customer expectations, minimizing complaints, and resolving issues appropriately.
  • Follows Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Training Manual (TM), including:
    • Staff appearance (e.g., car toppers for delivery drivers)
    • Attendance and safety and security standards
  • Exhibits Core Values through a positive attitude, teamwork, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Manages shift coverage, provides immediate feedback, and corrects issues as they arise.
  • Maintains quality standards for:
    • MCE readiness (Management Checklist Excellence)
    • Food and labor costs
    • Restaurant cleanliness and service performance (including compliance checks per Company guidelines).
  • Contributes to profit goals by aligning operations with FOCUS System targets:
    • Accurate financial and inventory tracking
    • Efficient cash management
    • Proper inventory level monitoring to minimize losses.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Serv-Safe/Local or State Food Service Certification preferred
  • Previous restaurant shift lead/experience preferred
  • Consistent and reliable employment history
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be capable of working long hours (32+ hours generally required, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies).
  • Ability to fill all required roles within the restaurant.
