Shift Leader - Children's Homes

Shift Leader – Children’s Homes | Witherslack Group

Salary: £36,231 - £40,640 (assuming good attendance and up to 4 sleep-ins per month) Flexible working in rewarding children’s homes

About the Role

Create Lasting Change

Working in our Children’s Homes means being part of a young person’s day-to-day life—experiencing their highest highs and most challenging lows. As a Shift Leader, you’ll enable young people to reclaim their childhood and build a pathway to becoming emotionally resilient, well-rounded adults.

The role isn’t without its challenges, but every small victory—whether it’s a quiet moment of connection or a young person overcoming a hurdle—makes an extraordinary difference. Our homes support young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs, and our mission is to create the best possible outcomes for them.

Why This Work Matters

As a Shift Leader, you’ll:

  • Foster deep relationships with young people—truly getting to know their needs and building trust.
  • Step in as a role model, ensuring smooth daily operations and maintaining high safety standards in our homes.
  • Support your team, deputising for Team Leaders when necessary.
  • Celebrate those "huge small victories"—because every small progress matters.

Responsibilities

You’ll wear multiple hats as the heart of our home:

  • Supporting Young People: diario supervision, nurturing behaviour, and creating a safe, stable environment.
  • Team Leadership: Managing day-to-day operations, ensuring staff well-being, and stepping up to leadership.
  • Admin & Compliance: Fulfilling documentation, safeguarding duties, and maintaining legal/Regulatory requirements.
  • Professional Growth: Leading by example, embracing CPD, and uplifting team morale and performance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
