Overview
Shift Manager Humdinger, Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire
Lead a high-performing production shift and make a measurable impact across safety, quality, service, and people development.
We're looking for an experienced Shift Manager to lead production operations at our Sherburn site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll lead a team of Production Team Leaders and indirectly manage approximately 55 Operatives and Technicians, ensuring production plans are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Position type: Full time, permanent
Shift pattern: 24/5 covering days or nights 6am-6pm and 6pm-6am
Salary: £48,814
Closing date: 24/07/2026
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop Production Team Leaders and operational teams across shift.
- Deliver production plans in line with safety, quality, cost, and service targets.
- Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and quality standards.
- Manage labor resources and operational costs effectively.
- Build a highly engaged, capable, and self-managing shift team.
- Coach and develop talent, succession plans, and training programs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Planning, Logistics, Technical, and wider site teams.

Qualifications
Essential
- Shift management experience within FMCG, food manufacturing, or a similar fast-paced production environment.
- Experience managing large operational teams through Team Leaders.
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety, Quality, and Food Safety standards.
- Experience leading performance improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong people management skills including performance, attendance, and development conversations.
- Confident communicator with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
Desirable
- IOSH, NEBOSH, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Food Safety/ HACCP Level 3.
- Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement training.
- Experience within automated manufacturing environments.
