Shift Manager
Shift Leader – Warehouse Operations (Volvo Group)
About the Role
Starting Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience Location: Rugby (relocating to Coventry in June 2027) Working Hours: 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday), with occasional Saturday cover
⚠️ Note: The Trucks, Technology and Industrial division will be relocating from Rugby to Coventry, so candidates must be prepared to commute between both sites during the transition.
You will join Volvo Group as part of their state-of-the-art warehouse facility in Coventry, where you will support multiple Volvo Group brands—including Volvo Penta, Renault Trucks, Volvo Trucks and Buses—handling an extensive range of parts such as windscreens, truck beds, engines, and small components. Your role will ensure efficient and safe movement of products to meet customer demands.
As a Shift Leader, you will take full responsibility for the operational performance of your shift, overseeing a team of 20 warehouse operatives, leading daily warehouse operations, and contributing to the transition to automation. You will also drive continuous improvement efforts using data, applying Lean, Kaizen, and VPS methodologies to optimise warehouse efficiency.

About You
We’re looking for a highly driven Shift Leader with:
✔ Strong people management skills, including coaching, performance management, engagement, and talent development
✔ Proven ability to meet operational targets and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
✔ Forklift licence(s) (preferably Counterbalance, Reach Truck, or High-Level Order Picker) with safety Experience (desirable)
✔ Familiarity with Automated Warehouse Systems (ASRS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and handheld scanners for data accuracy
✔ Excellent cross-functional communication across all business levels, both internal and external
✔ A data-driven mindset with advanced Microsoft Office skills and Power BI knowledge (advantageous)
✔ A self-starter who takes initiative to improve operations and develop teams
✔ Fluency in English and a valid UK driver’s licence
What You Will Do
- Engage your team through open communication, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving
- Lead and develop high-performing teams, monitoring operational performance throughout shifts
- Analyse data and KPIs to identify trends, reduce waste, and drive warehouse process improvements
- Manage team schedules, holidays, and absences to ensure business continuity
- Present operational achievements, improvement initiatives, and performance updates to leadership
- Ensure stock accuracy, process orders efficiently, and meet quality and delivery deadlines
- Support digital transformation by promoting effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), automation, and reporting tools
- Maintain full compliance with Health & Safety regulations, company policies, and warehouse procedures, including daily defect reports
