Shift Manager
We are looking for an experienced Shift Manager to join our Contact Centre leadership team. This is a key operational role responsible for providing real-time leadership, making critical decisions during periods of changing demand, and ensuring we deliver an exceptional service to our customers.
Working on a 4 on, 4 off rotating shift pattern across 12-hour day and late shifts, you will act as the operational lead during your shift, supporting Team Managers, managing service performance, resolving escalations, and ensuring colleagues have the support they need to succeed.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced contact centre environment, enjoys problem-solving, and has the confidence to make decisions that balance customer outcomes, colleague experience, and business performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contact centre operations during your shift, ensuring service levels, customer experience, and operational performance are maintained.
- Monitor live demand, queues, and performance, making real-time decisions to manage risks and optimise resource allocation.
- Work closely with Team Managers and Resource Planning to manage staffing challenges, including absence, changing demand, and service recovery actions.
- Act as the escalation point for complex customer and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution and appropriate handling of vulnerable customers.
- Provide clear shift updates, manage incidents, and maintain accurate handovers to support operational continuity.
- Support colleague wellbeing by promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive working environment.
- Monitor quality, compliance, and customer outcomes, identifying trends and opportunities to improve processes and reduce repeat contact.
- Champion a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance across the Contact Centre.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
