SHIFT MANAGER
In this role you will be responsible for the management and supervision of one of the shifts for a new production line at our Bolton site. You will need to supervise production operations – managing and coordinating activities of the manufacturing team to ensure timely and efficient output during the shift.
Key Accountabilities And Activities
- Coordinate shift priorities and ensure teams are aligned in order to meet build schedules and pre-SOP readiness
- Ensure Quality Control: Monitor production processes to maintain product quality standards, addressing defects or issues promptly to meet specifications
- Manage Team Performance: Lead, train and motivate shift employees, conducting performance evaluations and addressing staffing needs or conflicts
- Optimise Equipment Use: Oversee the operation and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
- Track Production Metrics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPI’s) such as output, yield and efficiency, reporting progress to senior management.
- Resolve Operational Issues: Address production bottlenecks, equipment failures or supply chain disruptions to maintain continuous operations.
- Ensure Compliance: Adhere to industry standards, environmental regulations, and company policies, including documentation and reporting requirements.
- Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimisation, implementing lean manufacturing principles or other efficiency initiatives.
- Mentor and develop PTM’s, fostering a culture of accountability, lean thinking and continuous improvement.
- Accountability: Support business needs by providing support to all departments and a point of contact for site during out of office hours.

Key Competencies
- 5+ years experience in production management, preferably within an electronics manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of automotive quality systems including IATF 16949, PPAP, APQP and FMEA
- Demonstratable understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma and process optimisation techniques
- Demonstratable ability in coordinating cross-functional teams, both internally and with OEM customers
- Proven experience with manufacturing technologies relevant to automotive components such as assembly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with practical approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage production schedules and ensure smooth shift transitions under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP software and Microsoft Office and reporting and data analysis.
