Shift Manager
Shift Leader / Warehouse Team Leader
Starting Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on experience
Location: Rugby (relocating to Coventry in June 2027)
Note: Candidates should be prepared to commute to both Rugby and Coventry during the transition period.
About the Role
Volvo Group’s Trucks, Technology and Industrial division is relocating from Rugby to Coventry, where we are establishing a state-of-the-art facility. As a Shift Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of your warehouse team—supporting multiple Volvo Group brands:
- Volvo Penta
- Renault Trucks
- Volvo Trucks and Bus
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing windscreens, truck beds, engines, and smaller components to ensure efficient, high-quality order fulfilment.
- Supporting the transition to automation in our new warehouse.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives, applying Lean, Kaizen, and VPS methodologies.
Responsibilities

Team Leadership:
- Take full ownership of your operational shift, leading a team of 20 warehouse operatives.
- Foster open communication, employee engagement, and collaborative problem-solving.

Operational Excellence:
- Monitor and report on KPIs and operational performance, identifying trends to eliminate waste.
- Analyse data to drive process improvements, helping transition toward automation.

Stock & Order Management:
- Manage inventory, quality-check orders, and ensure on-time fulfilment.
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety legislation and warehouse procedures.

Team Development & Scheduling:
- Develop and mentor your team to achieve high performance.
- Manage shift rotations, holidays, and absences to ensure business continuity.

Technology & Compliance:
- Drive adoption of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), automation tools, and reporting.
- Complete daily safety checks and report defects proactively.
What You’ll Bring
Requirements
- Proven leadership experience in people management, including coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Fast-paced operational experience with a track record of meeting targets and deadlines.
- Preferred:
- Forklift licenses (Counterbalance, Reach Truck, High-Level Order Picker or equivalent) with safe operating experience.
- Experience with Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS), WMS, and handheld scanners.
- Data-driven mindset with advanced Microsoft Office skills and Power BI knowledge (advantageous).
- Strong communication skills for engaging with all business levels—internal and external stakeholders.
- Fluid English proficiency and a valid UK driver’s license.
