Night Shift Manager – Permanent Role (Permanent / 40 Hours Per Week)

Contract Type: Permanent Salary: Circa £40,000 plus London Weighting Allowance Location: DPD London Docklands, Twelvetrees Crescent, Bromley-by-Bow, London, E3 3JG Hours of Work: Sunday to Thursday, 00:00 - 08:30

Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Shift Manager to lead our depot operations team during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Shift Manager, your core accountability is to manage and motivate a team of warehouse operatives efficiently during overnight operations. Your key role includes:

  • Overseeing the unloading of lorries and ensuring parcel sortation meets KPIs
  • Maintaining Confirmed at Depot (CAD) % targets
  • Achieving throughput targets and tip time compliance
  • Achieving saturations and parcels-per-person-hour targets
  • Ensuring Health & Safety, productivity, and cost efficiency standards
  • Resourcing additional staff during short-notice absences

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in fast-paced operational management with direct team leadership responsibility
  • Strong people management skills—able to mentor, motivate, and lead high-performing teams
  • Effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and time management
  • Resilience, adaptability, and self-motivation to thrive in a demanding environment
  • Proficiency in Google Chrome-based applications and data analysis
  • Vigilance in detecting and addressing unethical/inappropriate behaviour
