Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit a Shift Operator for its Lower-Tier COMAH site in Northampton.

The Shift Operator role comes with a competitive basic salary + shift allowance, benefits and opportunity for on-the-job training & further progression.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Operator role

Reporting To The Terminal Manager You Will

  • Support the Shift Supervisor in the safe, efficient and compliant running of the terminal.
  • Carry out routine checks and visual plant inspections according to instructions and reporting findings accurately in line with site procedures.
  • Support with taking line and tank samples and testing against specifications.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with site procedures and COMAH regulations.
  • Assist with other duties as required, including driving mobile plant and housekeeping tasks.

Professional Qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

  • A strong awareness of health & safety practices is essential; any relevant safety qualifications would be a bonus (e.g. IOSH).
  • GCSEs grade 4-9 including English & Maths, or equivalent
  • Operational experience in a high-hazard process environment would be highly desirable (e.g. fuel terminal, refinery, chemical process plant).
  • Full UK Driving License

The Shift Operator Role Would Suit Someone Who Is

  • A strong communicator with good reading, writing & comprehension skills.
  • Happy to work a shift pattern including days, nights and weekends.
  • Looking for an entry-level role within a heavy process environment.
