Salary: Competitive plus excellent benefits

As a Shift Operator in our Space and Air TCS Oakhanger team, you’ll help deliver flawless, uninterrupted satellite support services through the operation and configuration of critical communications and tracking systems. Your work will help ensure essential services remain available around the clock in a highly technical operational environment.

Working as part of a dedicated shift team, you'll play an important role in maintaining trusted satellite ground and communications systems that support vital operations. From monitoring equipment performance to assisting with fault resolution and maintenance activities, your expertise will contribute to innovation, operational excellence, and a positive impact through services that people rely on every day. What you’ll do as a Shift Operator

  • Configure and operate satellite communications, tracking, recording, and remote-control systems to support continuous operations.
  • Maintain routine daily operation of communications systems and operational areas.
  • Assist with routine maintenance activities, system checks, testing, fault finding, and troubleshooting.
  • Complete operational documentation and maintain high standards of operational security.
  • Support technicians as a safety person when required and follow direction from operational leads and supervisors.
  • Contribute to the training and development of new colleagues while maintaining safe and tidy working environments.

Does this sound like you?

  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above in Maths and English.
  • Experience working within an electronic engineering or technical operational environment.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft applications and strong computer literacy skills.
  • Ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance prior to employment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles and undertake specialist training requirements.

Vetting and checks:

This role requires Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance, which involves verifying your identity, employment history, nationality, and criminal record to meet government security standards. In addition, depending on the nature of the role, you may need to obtain formal Security Clearance (such as CTC or SC), which includes more detailed background checks on employment, criminal record, and financial history to ensure suitability for working in secure environments. Please note that UK residency requirements may apply for certain levels of clearance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can identify and provide any support you may need to undertake the role effectively.
