Shift Supervisor
Shift Supervisor Opportunity – Lower-Tier COMAH Site
Astute’s Power Team is partnering with a leading energy provider to recruit a Shift Supervisor for its COMAH classification site in Northampton.

About the Role
The Shift Supervisor will oversee critical operational activities in a high-hazard environment. If you possess a strong safety awareness, experience in hazardous environments, and a commitment to upholding both operational excellence and safety, this could be the right opportunity for you.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reporting to the Terminal Manager
- Responsible for the safe handling of all received fuels, additives, storage, and distribution in compliance with national safety standards and frameworks
- Acts as the competent person on-site in the absence of the Operations Supervisor
- Ensures the maintenance and integrity of terminal plant and equipment to support safe, reliable operations
- Manages daily operations, coordinating drivers, contractors, and resources to:
- Maintain efficient logistics, ensuring high standards of reliability
- Deliver customer service excellence
- Fosters a strong safety culture by:
- Championing compliance with regulations and procedures
- Monitoring performance and operational effectiveness
- Building robust internal and external relationships

Key Requirements and Qualifications
Professional Qualifications
Must hold or be eligible for:
- NVQ Level 3 in Process/Engineering discipline
- IOSH qualification or equivalent safety credential
- Demonstrable experience supervising operations within high-hazard, continuous-process industries such as:
- Fuel terminals
- Refineries
- Chemical process plants
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on Excel
- Full UK driving licence
Personal Skills
The ideal candidate will be:
- A strong communicator
- Skilled in cultivating and maintaining high safety standards
- Committed to ensuring full compliance with safety rules and procedures
- Experienced working to rotating shift patterns (including nights and weekends)
