About the Role

Are you an experienced Shift Supervisor with a background in warehouse or distribution operations? Do you enjoy leading teams, driving performance, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations? If so, we want to hear from you.

Impact Recruitment are currently recruiting for a DC Shift Supervisor to join a fast-paced distribution environment based in Thrapston. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations across inbound, outbound, returns, and quality functions, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and high standards at all times.

Key Details

  • Location: Thrapston
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 06:30–14:30
  • Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum (DOE)
  • Contract: Permanent

Responsibilities

Daily Operations

  • Lead and coordinate daily warehouse operations across:
    • Goods in
    • Despatch
    • Returns
    • Quality Assurance (QA)
  • Supervise teams, operational areas, and equipment to ensure smooth workflow
  • Ensure safe opening and closing of the site (when required)
  • Manage labour effectively in line with daily operational plans
  • Monitor KPIs, including:
    • Productivity
    • Accuracy
    • OTIF (On Time In Full) performance
  • Maintain site security and control access for drivers, contractors, and visitors
  • Identify and escalate operational issues, risks, or delays
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Ensure accurate reporting and adherence to operational processes and systems

People Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve performance targets
  • Communicate priorities and expectations clearly across the team
  • Support training, onboarding, and development of staff

Health & Safety

  • Ensure full compliance with all health & safety policies and procedures
  • Carry out regular safety checks and risk assessments
  • Enforce safe working systems and correct use of PPE
  • Support incident reporting, investigation, and follow-up actions

Ideal Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Shift Supervisor or Team Leader role within a warehouse/distribution environment
  • Strong leadership skills with a hands-on approach
  • Good understanding of warehouse operations, including:
    • Goods in
    • Despatch
    • Returns
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety practices
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, reliable, and proactive attitude
