Astute’s Power team is partnering with a leading Energy company in the UK to recruit a Shift Team Leader to join its CCGT site in West Sussex.
The Shift Team Leader role comes with a starting salary of up to £64,000 basic salary, £12,000 Shift Allowance and £2,100 SE allowance as well as benefits including bonus and medical insurance.

Responsibilities and duties of the Shift Team Leader role
Reporting To The Production Coordinator You Will
- Lead and supervise shift operations to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient running of the plant.
- Act as the primary point of contact for out-of-hours site management and operational decision-making.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Undertake Safety Coordinator duties in accordance with company safety rules and permit-to-work systems.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure operational obligations are achieved.
- Monitor plant performance and respond proactively to operational issues to maximise availability and efficiency.
- Coordinate and support maintenance activities to minimise downtime and maintain operational readiness.
- Lead, motivate and develop shift personnel through effective people management and coaching.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance plant performance, reliability and safety standards.
- Ensure operational activities are carried out in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies and industry best practice.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- HNC (or equivalent) qualification in an Engineering discipline.
- Proven operational and/or maintenance experience within power generation, oil & gas, refining, offshore, utilities or other heavy industrial environments.
- Previous experience leading or coordinating teams within a safety-critical environment.
- Strong knowledge of health & safety legislation, engineering standards and regulatory compliance requirements, with NEBOSH, IOSH or similar qualifications being advantageous.
- SAP authorisation is desirable, although candidates with Appointed Person status and hands-on experience managing safety isolations are encouraged to apply.
- Navy leavers with relevant watchkeeping experience on steam-raising plant are encouraged to apply.
