Shift Technician – Facilities Management / Maintenance (Days & Nights, Data Centre)
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shift Technician to join our in-house Facilities Management team, working a rotating days and nights shift pattern in a mission-critical data centre environment. This role ensures the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and first-line response to critical infrastructure, guaranteeing maximum uptime, resilience, and operational excellence.
As part of our 24/7 engineering team, you will:
- Conduct planned and reactive maintenance
- Respond to critical incidents
- Oversee specialist contractors
- Support switching activities
- Uphold the highest safety and compliance standards
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, operate, and maintain critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure to ensure continuous service availability.
- Carry out:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive maintenance across site systems
- Perform:
- Routine operational rounds
- Inspections and equipment checks
- Fault identification and corrective action
- Respond to:
- Alarms
- Plant failures
- Emergency situations → First-line fault diagnosis and escalation when necessary
- Support electrical and mechanical switching activities, adhering to approved procedures and operational standards.
- Operate:
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Other monitoring platforms → Identifying trends and maintaining optimal plant performance.
- Manage Permit to Work documentation and enforce safe systems of work.
- Supervise specialist contractors and vendors, ensuring:
- Work is completed safely, efficiently
- Compliance with site requirements
- Maintain accurate records in the CMMS, including:
- Maintenance logs
- Shift logs
- Incident reports
- Asset information
- Participate in:
- Incident investigations
- Root cause analysis
- Continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Health and safety regulations
- Environmental policies
- Statutory requirements
- Deliver clear and effective handover to maintain operational continuity.
- Support emergency response activities, contributing to resilience in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.

Skills & Experience Required
- Experience in Facilities Management, Building Services, Critical Facilities, or Data Centres.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical building services
- Capeable of:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Reactive maintenance tasks
- Ability to:
- Diagnose faults efficiently
- Work effectively under pressure
- Manage crises with confidence
- Knowledge of:
- Permit to Work systems
- Risk assessments
- Safe working practices
- Proven team player with:
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem-solving ability
- Available to work a rotating shifts pattern (days/nights).
