In this training role, you’ll use your submarine Ship Control background to:
- Deliver high-quality instruction on Astute Class Ship Control in a specialised facility
- Maintain and update Astute Class Ship Control courseware
- Support learners as they develop essential submarine operation skills
- Assess trainee progress through written and practical evaluations
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance through coaching, mentoring, and targeted interventions

Responsibilities
Day-to-day, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering Astute-class ship control training in a specialised facility
- Reviewing and evaluating technical data and change notifications
- Ensuring training meets prescribed standards, quality, and cost targets
- Supporting students with varying levels of experience
- Liaising with training design teams to provide subject matter expertise

The role is onsite at HMNB Clyde, offering applicants the flexibility of either full-time or part-time hours.
Requirements
Experience
The Ship Control Officer of the Watch must have:
- In-depth knowledge of ship control systems operations
- Experience in managing submarine control rooms
- Background in the Royal Navy submarine service
Desirable experience includes:
- Previous training delivery experience
- Recent Astute-class submarine experience
Qualifications
Essential qualifications:
- Warrant Officer or Senior Rating within the Royal Navy
Advantageous qualifications:
- DTC (Designated Target Controller) / DTTT (Developing Target Tactical Trainer) qualification
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain:
- Security Check (SC) security clearance
