Job Summary
We're looking for a Shipping Supervisor to provide leadership and oversight for our Shipping operation at Farnell's Leeds Distribution Centre.
This newly created role has been designed to support closer alignment between our Shipping and Freight teams, acting as the primary point of contact for shipping activities while driving operational improvements, efficiencies, and best practices across the department. You'll lead the day-to-day shipping function, ensure customer commitments are met, and play a key role in developing processes that enhance service, quality, and productivity.

What Will You Be Doing?
As Shipping Supervisor, you will:
- Act as the primary point of contact between the Shipping and Freight teams, ensuring effective communication and operational alignment.
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day shipping activities to ensure customer orders are processed accurately, efficiently, and within service commitments.
- Supervise and support team members, setting priorities and ensuring operational objectives are achieved.
- Drive long-term departmental improvements, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, quality, service, and cost effectiveness.
- Monitor departmental KPIs, productivity measures, and operational performance, taking action to improve results.
- Manage order fulfilment processes and resolve shipping or customer fulfilment issues as required.
- Support inventory accuracy through stock counts, reconciliations, and investigation of discrepancies.
- Ensure all operational documentation is accurate, complete, and maintained in line with company requirements.
- Promote a culture of quality, safety, and compliance, ensuring adherence to ESD requirements, internal procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Review operational trends and prepare reports to support decision making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver an exceptional customer experience and achieve business objectives.

What About You?
We're looking for a proactive and motivated operational leader who can engage teams, build strong stakeholder relationships, and drive meaningful change.
You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience within a shipping, warehouse, distribution, logistics, or supply chain environment.
- Experience supervising, coordinating, or leading operational teams.
- Strong understanding of shipping, fulfilment, inventory management, and distribution processes.
- Experience working closely with freight, transport, or logistics providers.
- A continuous improvement mindset with the ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using operational data and KPIs to drive performance.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work effectively across multiple teams and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A strong commitment to quality, safety, and customer service.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Typically 4+ years of relevant experience in logistics, warehousing, distribution, shipping, or supply chain operations.
