Shop Assistant (Casual)

Salary: Up to £13.00 per hour dependant on age

The Role

Shop Assistant will be serving customers, taking payments, operating computerised tills and issuing receipts while ensuring that Cofton’s high standards of customer service are always maintained.

You will support the Shop Supervisor and Shop Manager and your team colleagues by performing your role to the best of your ability while conforming to company policy, procedures and goals.

You will follow Health & Safety procedures within the workplace, keeping yourself, co-workers and guests safe at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • To welcome and serve customers/visitors to the shop in a polite and courteous manner.
  • To operate the till in accordance with training received.
  • To answer customer queries promptly, referring to the Shop Supervisor and/or Shop Manager for support where necessary.
  • To assist with tidying and cleaning the shop to ensure it is always well-presented.
  • To assist with stock-takes and stock rotation as necessary.
  • To report any maintenance problems without delay.
  • To undertake any necessary training as deemed necessary by management.
  • To follow company procedures, guidance and training as appropriate.
  • Report any Health & Safety matters immediately to the Shop Supervisor and/or Shop Manager and take any remedial action within the realms of your training, ensuring the Company remains compliant.
  • To comply with the company policies regarding the following:
    • Fire
    • Health & Safety
    • COSHH
    • Security
  • Any other ad hoc duties requested by management.
