Retail Store Assistant – Reading Broad Street
£12.71 per hour
Reports to: Shop Manager Department: Trading Location: Reading Broad Street Contract: Permanent Hours: Part-time (13 hours per week, rota-based, including Sundays)

There’s no typical day in our vibrant retail store. One moment may see you assisting customers with purchases, while another could involve coordinating fundraising events or bringing social community efforts to life. Every week brings fresh discoveries, from high street trends to unexpected local connections.

Responsibilities
As a Retail Store Assistant, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring excellent customer and supporter service; promoting our products, brands, and mission with authenticity and confidence
- Contributing to achieving ambitious sales and fundraising targets as part of a dynamic team
- Supporting the visual merchandising, tidiness, and overall appeal of the store, ensuring full adherence to safeguarding and health and safety standards
- Building local community relationships—highlighting opportunities for supporters to engage with our charitable work
- Supporting and organising oray-level fundraising events to maximise store targets

Requirements
Cancer Research UK is seeking an individual who:
- Demonstrates an understanding of what constitutes strong customer service
- Has experience (or ability to adapt) from working in busy customer-facing environments
- Can manage their own workload and operate independently, while remaining adaptable when team support is needed
- Thrives in a team environment and possesses excellent communication skills
Ideal Attributes
- An understanding or interest in fashion (given the nature of our merch and products)
- Previous retail experience – preferred but not essential
