Shop Manager

Shop Manager – Full Time

Location: Smethwick, West Midlands Contract Type: Permanent, 45 hours across 5 days per week Hours: Mixed shifts, minimum 5 days a week, including weekends Pay: £39,889–£48,343 per annum (45-hour contract)

About the Role

We are searching for a motivated, leadership-driven Shop Manager to oversee one of our Smethwick shops. This is a permanent full-time position that requires flexibility and commitment to meet our operational demands, including weekend availability.

Salary Range: £39,889.20–£48,343.08 p.a. Holidays: 30 days (select 6 weeks) Benefits:

  • Leading by example, assisting with day-to-day store operations in a busy retail environment.
  • Motivating and coaching your team to deliver an efficient, customer-focused service.
  • Taking full accountability for the shop’s performance, including:
    • Managing customer service, cash handling, and safety standards.
    • Ensuring stock management, merchandising, and shop presentation are up to scratch.
    • Reducing waste, minimising shrinkage, and controlling payroll costs to meet KPIs.
  • Recruiting, inducting, and developing the team through mentoring and feedback.
  • Reporting directly to the Area Manager on operational performance.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • A friendly, hardworking attitude with a proactive and solution-focused mindset.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of thriving in a busy, multi-tasked environment.
  • The ability to build rapport at all levels, from colleagues to customers.
  • Experience as a Manager or Assistant Manager in retail, pharmacy, or a similar setting.
  • A full UK driving licence (required for shop deliveries and site requirments); essential but non-disqualifying if you have none.
  • Willingness to undergo a:
    • Basic DBS check (England/Wales) or
    • Disclosure Scotland check (Scotland) (Required for the role; convictions may limit eligibility.)
