About the Role
Naomi and Jack's are excited to open a new retail shop in Bitterne!
We are looking for a passionate Shop Manager to join our growing charity shop operation. Our mission is to generate income to fund care for local children and their families.
Your role will be crucial in establishing and managing the shop while raising awareness of our charity. Your responsibilities span customer service, sales, team leadership, and financial controls – all aligned with a mission of providing excellent service alongside great value for shoppers.
The successful candidate will thrive driving sales, delivering a warm welcome to customers, and fostering a team-working culture with our Assistant Shop Manager and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily direction, training, and supervision of the Assistant Shop Manager and volunteer team, ensuring effective delegation based on each person's skills and experience.

Create and manage a weekly work rota to ensure adequate staffing during opening hours, including coverage for holidays, absences, and weekend shifts.

Sourcing, stock rotation, merchandising, and pricing of donated items to maximise appeal and revenue.

Adhere to financial controls including:
- Daily till reconciliation
- Processing daily banking of takings
- Weekly reporting of sales performance to the Finance Manager

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation for both staff and customers, maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
Requirements

Full-time availability: 35 hours per week (5 days), including an expectation to work some Saturdays on a rota basis.

Ability to bringing strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, dedicated approach to the work.

A can-do attitude, adaptability, and enthusiasm to make the shop a success.

Must be eligible to work in the UK.

Due to the charity’s focus on child protection, all employees will require:
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Satisfactory references covering the last 5 years.
